The Process (a.k.a. Designing The Stop Sign Video)

0

This reminds me of some of our clients. It’s like the video was produced for my company, LOL. If you are in any creative field you know exactly what is going on here and will relate immediately. If you are not in a creative field, well you can see how we feel and maybe tell me in the comments what are clients like in your field of work? Are they this bad? Do they tell you exactly what to do and even after you recommend the right thing they go against you, only to blame you at the end for the bad result? Check out the video below. (more…)

Great Designers Steal [Video]

This is such a gray area for so many people, I mean where do you draw inspiration from? How much do you take from what you see elsewhere, is it really yours? These questions go through my mind every time I start working on a project. I mean a lot of times the customer says I like this site, this site, or this one, make mine like that. Sure, but wouldn’t you want your own original one? Yes, as long as it looks like the one I showed you, LOL. (more…)

Mailchimp Template Throwdown

0

Mailchimp is having a template design contest where you can win $600 by er, designing a template. What’s the catch you say? well, it has to be designed in all tables and inline CSS styles. This is sometimes cringe inducing work, I tried to recently copy the layout of a design (They were expanding the brand, so the layout had to match) from a website to another. I Failed. I had to use proper CSS techniques to achieve the look, doing it the other way made my head hurt. Anyway, this is not a whole website design, so an exception may be made. I know is kind of sucky when you have to make sure outlook renders it properly with its Microsoft Word HTML renderer *gasp* but hey, could mean $600.

Well, even if you don’t care about design and email campaigns and HTML or if you think table layouts are the work of the web devil, at least you can enjoy the awesome video below: (more…)

Redefining ‘Silent Killers’

Imagine an Apache or a Cobra equipped with one of these rotor blades. Silent and Deadly comes to mind. blade-vortex interaction is the physical phenomenon that causes the ear piercing noise you hear when a helicopter is near. Eurocopter engineers have developed a new kind of rotor blade called Blue Edge that reduces the noise. The blades are beautiful one of those things where function follows form and not the other way around as it usually does. (more…)
